How can I create a harmonious object from two visually opposing materials?

Concrete Pendant Light

Decaying brutalist architecture within our surroundings inspired the design of this light. I set out to challenge the conventions of concrete as a material and I have been experimenting with the concrete composition to create a strong lightweight material that is simultaneously rough and smooth and can hang without extra supports.

However, I wanted to keep the design clean and simple and I didn’t want the structure to inhibit the illumination of the light bulb. The shape of the light bulb also adds an element of detail, while maintaining its brutalist edge.
