For this design I was interested in creating something fluid and organic in appearance, almost as though it had emerged naturally. I liked the idea of roots overlapping and eventually becoming the support of the table.
I decided to use bronze to make the base of the table for a number of reasons. I felt that the bronze added visual structure to the roots, the colour of the material and the way light reflected off it were visually engaging and I was able to use the weight of the material as a cantilever to support the table.
The use of glass for the top was simply because I wanted the viewer to see the roots from all angles, and for them to be the centerpiece.
