Whilst working at Christopher Jenner, was part of the team designing a collection of furniture that was made from Cumbrian slate and held together with intersecting turned brass joints.
The pieces are a real celebration of cumbrian slate, the landscape it is from and the heritage that makes it such a unique material.
As part of this project I travelled to Cumbria in order to collaborate with the local stonemasons, working with them to adjust and refine the design.
A key element of the design was juxtaposing the strong and heavy material, with a modular design, allowing people to dismantle the pieces with ease. My role included designing the joints that allowed the slate sections to slot together.
